Watch: SOUTH at SFJAZZ is back!

SOUTH is back with rustic, sustainable Mexican cooking, right inside the new SFJAZZ Center, on Franklin and Fell, in the heart of Hayes Valley. Chef-de-cuisine Rymee Trobaugh, formerly of Zuni Café, serves small plates like black bean molotes, clam ceviche, shrimp sopes, and rabbit in yellow mole, complemented by refreshing tropical cocktails, with lots of rum and tequila. Operated by famed restaurateur Charles Phan of The Slanted Door Group, South does Mexican food with a distinctly San Francisco flair.

Come by for South's Happy Hour, Tuesday-Friday, 4:30-6PM!

You can make a reservation anytime via Open Table.

You can even share an event and invite friends on Facebook, or join the conversation about an artist on Twitter. The Calendar view also provides a month-by-month picture.

Plenty of media to be had--from videos, images and audio clips, to blog posts and Twitter feeds (Android)

Browsing through the App, you'll discover News, which links to the SFJAZZ Blog; Tweet, which syncs up to Twitter; Videos, featuring live concerts at the SFJAZZ Center, the SFJAZZ Collective, and educational programs; as well as Audio, a playlist of Season 2 artists you can dig on. With such a great wealth of media and information, the SFJAZZ App is an immensely useful resource and supplement for SFJAZZ regulars and newcomers alike.

A complete list of SFJAZZ venues, with directions, parking facilities, and even a good, local eatery (iPhone)

Finally, the SFJAZZ App Venues directly links up to Google Maps and recommends directions, parking facilities, and public transportation. Restaurants in Getting There (see the home page above) features SOUTH at SFJAZZ, the New-Orleans themed restaurant and bar on the ground-level of the Center (which is now open for lunch!).

Stay Tuned: You can expect even more in the future--additional concerts and educational programs, the option to select your own seat, as well as up-to-date media, news and ticket information.

South at SFJAZZ Opens March 5!

This Tuesday, March 5th will mark the highly anticipated Grand Opening of South at SFJAZZ. This all day café/bar from famed chef and restaurateur Charles Phan of The Slanted Door Group is inspired by the birthplace of jazz and features small plates made from local and sustainable ingredients, as well as craft cocktails from the old south and wines from small local wineries.

"I can think of no other chef/restaurateur who is a better match than Charles for the SFJAZZ Center," said SFJAZZ Founder and Executive Artistic Director Randall Kline. "Charles is a culinary genius whose creative spirit compliments the art that we will be presenting in our new home. Our aim is to be an artistic, educational, and community center. The café in the Center will be open for breakfast and lunch, as well as evenings. Exceptional food and drink — what Charles is famous for — will play an integral role in welcoming people to the Center, even when there are not concerts taking place. We are delighted to have him be a part of the Center."
