From the Ground Up: September 25, 2012

The opening of the SFJAZZ Center is now less than 5 months away and construction of the building is moving very quickly. Photographer Henrik Kam helps show how visually captivating a construction site like this can actually be, especially when sparks start to fly!

HK: When the sparks fly I'm all over the shot. It's visually exciting and with the right combination of shutter speed and aperture it's possible to get a shower of streaky sparklers.

The top down vantage point of the first image really helped create an intriguing background for the guy cutting multiple lengths of rebar.

The middle image shows an iron worker securing the facia on the grand staircase.

Finally we have a proud member of UA Local 38, Plumbers & Pipefitters working on the hefty gas supply line. As he said, people like lots of HOT water.
