Up Close & Personal

Among the things SFJAZZ audiences appreciate most about our education programs are the opportunities to have more in-depth experiences with some of the amazing artists who come through the performing season. Whenever possible we try to create a variety of outreach events in the community in order for artists and audience members of all ages to intersect, and this week is no exception.
Uri Caine
On Saturday March 17th (3:15-5:15pm) we are thrilled to co-present another exciting master class with pianist/composer Uri Caine at the Jazzschool in Berkeley. As part of our on-going efforts to build strong community through jazz education, SFJAZZ and the Jazzschool continue to work together in creating a variety of programs, including lectures, clinics and more. For this upcoming master class we are proud to present one of the most eclectic and masterful pianists on the scene today in an intimate program open to all audiences. Caine has been described as a musical "omnivore," known for his extraordinary ability to straddle the line between classical and jazz idioms, and for his adventurous work with artists such as John Zorn and Christian McBride. Don't miss this rare opportunity to sit down with a true master of contemporary music! Tickets may be purchased directly through the Jazzschool or by phoning 510-845-5373.

The following evening (Sunday March 18th) be sure to catch a Pre-Concert Talk and performance by the Uri Caine trio as part of the SFJAZZ 2012 Spring Season!
